Found a folder of funny and interesting stuff in a drawer at work. This picture of various ham radio equipments at work brought back a lot of memories.
From left to right, we have a Hammerlund receiver (either a 170 or a 180, I can't remember), a Heathkit HW-16 transceiver, and a Globe Scout transmitter. On top of the Heathkit there are two speakers, and the fabulous Olson SWR meter. Also a code practice oscillator I made with a 555 timer chip. I don't know why the HW-16 was at work, that was my personal equipment. The other ones ended up in my shack when my enthusiasm for the school ham radio club faded.
The HW-16 developed a chirp (as noted by a OO (Official Observer), so I sold it at the swap meet. The other two eventually ended up with someone who knew a lot more about repairing old boat anchors than I do!
I wonder which camera I used to take that picture. It certainly isn't focused very well! I can't imagine the school Nikon FM would have produced that.
On the ride home some passenger guy yelled something about "Sucks" out his window at me, but I figured he was just complaining about having to ride with his mom. Right?
