One of the caches was in the Zoro (not Zorro, as Google Maps would have you believe!) Garden. What a nice spot! Today I learned that was where the nudist colony (link has nudity) was for the 1935 Exposition.
Gosh, I wish I had taken that Sharpie out of my mouth.
Today I learned that there are two cactus gardens in Balboa Park. One, the old one, was started by Kate Sessions for the 1935 Exposition. It is behind the Balboa Park Club building. I've been there before, with my daughter. The new one, which I visited today, is along the east side of Park Blvd., near its intersection with Village Place. It is very nice, but some idjits have inscribed their names on one of the cactus.
This is why we can't have nice things.
LATER EDIT: I forgot this. I've been hearing a lot about the sharrows (Shared-Lane Markings) that are being painted on San Diego streets. A very good idea, to remind both cyclists and drivers to share the road. But this little dead-end street (a major bike route, however) has THREE of them!
The trip today went for 25 miles, so the total for the week is 74.66 miles (Darn!!), and the ending odometer reading is 10.976.
I oiled the chain when I got home, like a good boy.
