Of This And Of That

I've been riding to work on Jamis, in spite of the bollixed rear derailleur adjustment. I ride in gear #"3" a lot because gear #"2" clicks. I was seriously considering changing the whole thing to friction shifting, especially after checking out the Rivendell website. They don't care much for indexed shifters, either. Well, I mentioned it to Steve the M. and he would have none of it. He FORCED me to let him at the bike, and in two shakes of a lamb's tail, and a couple twists of the adjuster, he had it working just fine. So my plan to throw money at the problem has been thwarted, once again!

He also whipped out his roll of genuine Velcro® Peel and Stick and stuck a piece on the battery box, so as to secure a errant strap that I could not keep under control.



Once again, Steve the M. has saved the day. Did I mention the jerseys he gave me? He SAID he was trying to keep up with Steve the L. (The Big Swede). If it ever warms up I will be all set!

I REALLY need to do a major cleaning of the chain. Also, one of the toe clips has worn through so the strap has come loose. It's the right one, the one that drags a bit when getting started. Another trip to the bike shop seems in order!

I was looking over some books that were returned today. Found this, as they say on eBay, VINTAGE card of snaps being used for a bookmark. Some kid must have borrowed from their grandma. Check the price!



Speaking of vintage, do you this label I found will be worth anything some day?



Back to the bike!

I was unlocking the door to work the other day and Jamis fell over and took a couple of gouges out of my leg. Bad Jamis!!



The front brake on Jamis doesn't QUITE clear the braze-ons in extreme rotation. Like when it is falling over. One would have thunk they would have caught that at the factory.



You might be surprised to hear how long it took me to figure out what the clink was.
