I rode down to O.B. this morning to take a picture of the antenna we spotted the other week when we drove down to O.B. I had toyed with the idea of riding up to the start of the Tour Of California, but decided (chickened out) I didn't really want to ride that far.
Down in the San Diego River bottom I see they are cleaning some of the crud growth out. Looks nicer, but where will the homeless folks camp?
I was amazed to read about the junk plants theat are infesting our canyons and rivers banks.
Oh, yes, here's the antenna. Ain't she a beauty?
Eight elements, that's a lot!
I could see the mast across the river, it prompted me to find out just what the heck the name of that was is! You will remember that there was some confusion about that on my New Year's Day Ride. Turns out the boat is Pyewacket, DUH, owned by Roy Disney. It's named after the cat in the Kim Novack movie, Bell Book and Candle. DOUBLE DUH! Like I haven't seen that movie a dozen times!
I edited out the floodlight pole in this image.
Looking up the mast. I left the floodlight pole in on this image, for aesthetic reasons, not because I'm lazy!
Graphic on side of the tub. Hey, it's a CAT!
This is a BIKE blog, not a BOAT blog, so I better stick in a picture of the bike!
In a stoplight conversation this morning a fellow cyclist commented on my "retro" bike.
I saw some new construction on the bike path coming down, so I took a look on the way back.
Oh, yeah, I read about this, it's the extension of the bike path to Hotel Circle North. Good deal!
It's almost complete, except for this part. Be careful!
Off to the left (north) there was a white bird watching me. An egret? A heron? A white sparrow?
A graffito I noticed here.
This spot has a wealth of picture-taking opportunities!
Looking up under railway bridge, we see the sky!
Never fear, the paving resumes on the other side of the bridge.
And finally, the end of the trail, in so many ways.
Almost got wacked by a little ol' lady in van coming out of the motel parking lot. I would advise caution!
Ride mileage for today was 32.67 miles in 2 hours and 36 minutes of ART (actual reding time)
That makes for about 72 miles for the week.
And now off to watch the final stage of the Tour of California on televsion!

Wow! Tons o'cool pics! What an antenna! I just read that the White Heron and White Egret are one and the same. If it is a heron/egret, we have one that visits our neighborhood from the lagoon. Just hangs out on the sidewalk for a while. The cats are cute.
