I decided to not splurge, and got another Forte GT2 Kevlar tire to replace the threadbare one on Jamis.
I, being the forgetful soul that I am, had gone out and LOOKED at the tire to be replaced, so as to ascertain the size, and WROTE IT DOWN. 700 x 26c. In big letters!
So, I'm looking at the tires on my hands and knees, since they are on the bottom rack, and since I've the bifocals.
I'm not seeing any in that size. I take something close, a 28 width, up to the counter. The guy asks me if that's all, and I go into my "I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember my tire size" spiel. He goes over to look, but no, all they got is 25 and 28. So I decided to take the 28, and he says bring it back if it's wrong, we don't judge. I thought that was nice.
Of course, when I got home I find that I HAD written it down wrong.
Today I replaced the rear tire on Jamis, and tossed the threadbare one into the trash.
Steve the L. showed me a nifty pouch made from old sew-up tires, that was cool.
Since it's the last day of 2008, I updated my mileage chart on My Bicycling Page, and did a little housekeeping, too. I see a number of images that need to be reshot, as I have had a decent camera for a while. I'll have to get on that.
Here's a blurry version of the chart in question. You can click on the image to see a larger, clearer, version.
2008 Summary
Jamis -- 2,278 miles
Schwinn -- 734 miles
2008 total -- 3,012 miles
Compare that with 5,416 miles TOTAL on the vehicle. Would that I had written down the odometer reading LAST December 31st! Next year, I'm all set!
