I pedaled my way through El Cajohn.
Saw this SPIKE in the road!

Turned out it was rubber, but stuck quite securely in the road. It was the only one on Lexington Ave. that I saw, and I was quite amazed. But later, I came upon some re-surfacing in progress, and there were a bunch more. So I guess it has something to do with that.
I headed out Olde Highway 80, past Larry's olde shop, and turned around just before I got to Lake Jennings Park Road. Not too much traffic in the morning, and all of it forgiving of my foibles.
Stopped and took a look at this memorial again. I noted the guy's name, as I was going to look it up and see what happened when I got home, but by then I had forgotten it.

Olde picture from a 2006 bike ride.
Mr. Sun started to peek out as I headed back. I mentioned the other day, somewhere, about how long and straight and boring Lexington Ave. in the Cajohn was/is. But today it occurred to me that the longness and straightness is like a time trial. I was zipping along at 20 mph, even after stopping for the occassional stop light, so I bet someone who is in shape could REALLY move it along!
I took a turn around the Harry Griffen, then headed home.
Today trip was 28.09 miles (45.2 km) in 2 hours and 12 minutes of riding time, for an average speed of 12.77 mph (20.56 km/h)
Odometer reading at the end of the ride was 7,077 miles, so it must have been around 7,049 at the beginning, which would be our starting point for the week.
Ain't that nifty?
