We had a diaster drill at work today. I was on the search and rescue squad. My teammate and I did not do too well. We failed to find two victims.
What have we learned from this?
- Even though the room is green-tagged, you still gotta look inside.
- Even though that green-tagged room is locked, you still look inside.
- And even if a room is a non-kid room, you still gotta look inside.
I thought it was just WRONG that 3/5 of the "victims" were in my search area!
At least we found one victim. The one that was placed in my work area, as I watched. Couldn't goof that one up!
Riding home I stopped to assist a fellow who was having chain problems. He had a pretty old and inexpensivebike, one of those with a pressed-steel derailleur. Somehow he got the chain arranged so it didn't go around the bottom pulley. I could not figure out how to fix it without taking the derailleur apart, and I didn't have a a wrench to do it. So we shifted the chain on to the big gears, and hoped for the best. I advised him not to pedal standing up.
I've managed to put just a hair over thirty miles on the bike commuting this week.
One more day!
