Sunny Sunday

There was not even ONE cloud in the sky this morning when I took off, and yet I did, anyway. But I DID later on the sunscreen goop.

The sun had not risen yet, it was around six a.m. (On checking, I see that the official sunrise was 5:42 this morning. But it had not peeked over the mountains yet.) The temperature was 61.0 °F.

I headed east, and just kept going.

The first thing I came across was this shattered guitar. Reminded me of my musical dreams, SHATTERED by my own laziness... It is First Act brand guitar. Not terribly expensive, as guitars go.



Ignoring the portent of doom, I kept to the eastern path.

Biking through El Cajon can be excruciatingly boring. It's a flat little city, laid out in a grid pattern. Some of the road have bike lanes, and I applaud that. But Fletcher Parkway has NO accommodation (bike route is a couple blocks to the north.) for cyclists. And it's a booger on a business day. But on Sunday morning? Not a problem.

On East Main I noticed this sad little purple bear. He lost his stuffing! I know the feeling!
I picked him up and took him home.



I felt pretty good, for a change, and I HAD gooped on the sunscreen, so I kept going to the east. I traveled out Olde Highway 80 till I got to the top of the grade on "Alpine Blvd.", then I turned around and started back.

I had not seen any bicyclists on the way out, but now I saw several as I headed back. Several waved as we passed. When I stopped to take this antennas picture (this is Field Day weekend!) on Greenfield Drive, an older gentleman laboring up the little hill from the other side asked how I was doing, and remarked, in passing, that going downhill seemed so much easier. I made some inane comment about the sunny sun.

So, this guy has quite a stack of antennas!



This is the right side (my right!) of the house. It looks like there is a beam antenna sitting on the roof, not mounted on anything. Wire antennas are in evidence, too.



I refilled the water bottle at Van Zanten Park, then headed on Greenfield across the freeway, then slicing over to Fletcher Parkway. Climbed the hill in granny gear, stopping for a couple rocks along the way. There was a request for rock pictures, but instead of individual pictures, here is a shot of the ditch I am geting them from.



See, this will save much time and bandwidth!

By this time the temperature was in the high 70s, although it felt much warmer. It is 87.0 °F outside right now. I predict: mid-nineties for today!

I feel that the rocks in the ditch are collectably valid, as the ditch is connected to the gutter. Cemented, as it were. And in fact drains into the gutter farther down the hill. So there!

So what are the damages for the week?

Just for Jamis, I'm too lazy to go get the Schwinn odometer!
