I was reading on the Reddit this morning about a 12 year-old boy shot DEAD (as the headline says, emphasis mine.) in South Carolina. Geez. Just, geez. Anyway, it reminded of a bit of news I heard yesterday. I was told that a member of a local racing bicycle club was riding in Harbison Canyon (Which many (I, for one) people often spell "Harbinson") and someone shot a gun at him. He heard it (the bullet, silly, not the gun!) whizz by, and heard it hit a nearby sign. The police were called, but the culprit has not been located, yet. Maybe they were just shooting at the sign, and didn't intend to scare him, but my informant tells me there is a lot of resentment directed towards bicyclists riding this road.
The fabulous John Z. was laid-up for a while after getting whacked by a towed trailer on Harbison Canyon Road. Hit'n'Run, I believe, in the sense they didn't realize they had hit someone. But they caught the person, as John's riding companions got the license plate.

And people drive too fast.
Check out the road on Google Maps Street View. See how some of the garages empty directly on the Road, with no driveway! THAT must be entertainng!
