Saturday Misc.

Did not ride the bike, but I did earl the chain.

2007Nov17chain 003

Did a little research to find out if this chain, Jamis's chain, a Shimano HG-73 to be precise, is a bushingless chain, or a bushing chain. Near as i can figure, it is a bushing chain.

You say, who cares? Well, it apparently matters how you earl them. Bushing chains need earl between the side plates, while bushingless don't. One is supposed to earl the center and it let is flow down around the rolley thingie on each link.

Looks like that chain needs a bit more cleaning, though.

Non-Bicycling Stuff That I'm Too Lazy To Put In The Other Blogs

On quite another note, I see the Johnson Smith catalog has a carbide cannon listed for sale! I can't remember who I was telling about this wonderful item, but who ever it was, there it is!

The plumaria still has leaves, that is, it's not dead (again) yet! I have high hopes for a flower. Someday...

I finished Pictures Of Hollis Woods (Patricia Reilly Giff) this morning, and finished Black Mirror (Nancy Werlin) this afternoon.

Haven't read anything in about 2 weeks. Been crazy around here. Cousin had surgery on Friday to have a breast lump removed. Surgeon says he thinks it's nothing but we're still waiting for the path results. Cousin's father-in-law had a triple bypass on Monday. Had some complications during the surgery and is having some during recovery as well. Inflammation of the heart to be exact. Took Jack & Toshi in to the vet last Saturday. Jack's allergies were aggravated by the fires so his skin, ears and eyes were a mess. Toshi lost 2lbs so the vet changed his diet. Unfortunately, his stomach is sensitive due to his meds and developed a nasty case of diarrhea. So bad that it was bloody. Was put on doggie immodium and antibiotics. Labs were negative so we're happy about that. Hopefully his new meds will do the trick and get him back on track. For a day and a half, he was only allowed water as the vet wanted to make sure all the new dog food passed through his system. Poor guy was starving. Would beg every chance he could get. I guess that was another good sign...that he's hungry. Today he was able to eat 2 small meals. So far no poops. Just hope he doesn't get constipated. Sigh. Relatives start coming in on Monday. Me hungry and tired.
