Sunny Saturday

I got up a little late and so didn't get started untill nearly 8 o'clock. First I went to the library to drop off "Lost & found" by Alan Dean Foster. On the way I noticed my hands felt funny on the handlebars. I, of course, had forgotten my gloves. And since they were hanging (ON PURPOSE)on the pump, that means I forgot the pump. Well, I'm not going far without my pump, with MY history of flats, so, of course, I went back and got the stuff. By the way, once I forgot my helmet and only noticed when I tried to look in my helmet mirror...

Did the classic Dam Ride. Pretty sunny this morning, and since I didn't grease up (not even my NOSE) I hope I don't get a burn! Or something.

Followed an old guy around Lake Murray. Since he was going around 9-10 mph I figured no one would yell at me for going too fast. It was really hard to go that slow, though. On the other hand, 15 mph is a good clip for me. I think 13.5 mph is my speed.

Speaking of speed, I say again, 30 mph down hill gets me nervous. 40 mph scares me.

Speaking of hills, why do I feel less manly if I use granny gear? I bought it to go up hills, dad gum it, I'm gonna use it!

Somehow the rear deraileur got out of adjustment and I overshifted the big cog. Adjusted that when i got home.

So, I rode 23.2 miles in 1 hour, 56 minutes, and 59 seconds for an Average Speed of 11.9 MPH (19.15 KMH).
