Smooth

Did the Dam Ride this morning. Got up at six, watched 10 minutes of the Tour, hopped on the bike and took off. Nothing bad to report, in fact nothing bad has happened for several weeks, I'm thinking. Knock on wood.

Saw a diesel locomotive sitting on the tracks (where else?) in El Cajon. Wish I had the camera. (Went back later and took pics.) Click the pic to see larger image on Flickr. Two more pics at Flickr.



At Padre Dam bike path said "Good monring" to the couple with the two dogs that I've seen for the last three rides. One of the dogs is a puppy. The headwinds were terrific through the gorge, the trees were waving all over the place and it was very noisy! I bet the wind was 30 mph or so, a seven on the Beaufort scale, which is a near gale. I don't know, it was VERY windy!

Did the Lake Murray sideride. Rode behind a lady on single speed cruiser for a couple miles. She was chugging along at 12 mph behind her husband who was towing a baby wagon. When the headwinds hit, she was hard put to manage 10 mph, so I finally passed her.

My mileage at the hour point was 13.5, for an average of 13.5 mph to that point. The mileage for the ride was 21.99, the elapsed time was 1 hour 47 minutes, for a average speed of 12.33 mph.

Oh, forgot to say, wore the purple Gordini jersey.
