Whoopsie!

I went for a modified Dam ride today. Found the shortcut down Windmill Farms Road to Fanita from Hacienda. Don't know why I had so much trouble figuring it out all these years!

Did a boo-boo at the intersection of Mission Gorge Road and whatever-it-it. See the image. I came up to the light (red line) but it didn't change for me. So I decided to make a little U-turn and go back around to try to trip the light sensor. The Black line shows my actual path, the Purple line show my intended path. I got comfused about which lane is which (Hey, there are FOUR of them!!), so when the cars (Blue boxes) started their left from Mission Gorge Road they had to swerve a bit and I had to swerve a bit. I gave my best "Yes, I know I'm an idiot" grin to the drivers, they just smiled.

Eventually another car came and tripped the light for me, then he made a right on to Mission Gorge Road. Wasn't that nice of him?

Other than that it was a pretty unevenful ride. Not too many people out, pretty average. Not too hot. Did the climb up Jackson Drive in granny, did not cry.

Almost forgot. Earled the chains on BOTH bikes.

It is an odd feeling to wear bike shorts all day long because one has forgotten to bring underwear to change into. However, the feeling of support was wonderful.

Thumbshifters make my thumbs hurt, especially the left one.

Headlight aiming mod works perfectly!

DROVE to the drs. today (Hey, it's raining, get offa my back!), PSA is still at .2, so it's wait-and-see for now.

Scheduled colonoscopy for February, ain't we got fun?

Sunday Sunday

It's been very cloudy all the day. There was some light spritz when I went for a ride over to the dam this morning. I took the Schwinn. Funny, but that creaky noise from the crank area seems to have disappeared...

The new toe clips are working well and the seat seems adjusted properly after I had lowered it to see if C. wanted to ride it.

I kind of wandered around Fletcher Hills and that area between Navajo and Mission Gorge Road, managing to run up 25 miles.

Saw a pile of baby clothes in Mission Gorge Road. Wierd.

It's Friday Again!

I have not ridden the bike/s all week, but today while driving to work I SAW a bicycle rider!

I've been reading about bicycling on the intarnet at the fine websites I have thoughtfully linked on the right, and others too.

As an aside...I went to Target the other day, and when I came out I couldn't find the truck. I walked all OVER that parking lot. Turned out it was exactly where I parked it, near the entrance to Target...

In the catagory of "Stuff Found While Riding", I found a nice big file today on Fletcher Parkway. I suppose "nice" is relative, being as the file had been run over quite a few times and the tang was broken off. But surely there is something useful I can make out of that tang, and I can still file with the, eh, file, what?

On Googleing it, actually Yahoo!ing it, I find the following:

http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/fspubs/77712508/page05.htm

"Because a new file often will cut faster than desired, a wornout 7- or 8-inch special crosscut file with the tang broken off works well."

So there you go...

Not much going on.

I made a new Bike Log book for the Jamis. I am going to keep two mileage logs, in the hope I will eventually start riding the Schwinn again.

I fooled with the headlight today, making a adjustment mechanism that occured to me last night in a flash of brillance. We shall see how well it works.

I see on TV that the MS ride people raised 2 million bucks this weekend. Well done!

Sunday Morning

Went to Performance yesterday and unable to find anything to spend my Performance Bucks on. Huh.

Did a modified Dam Ride today. Saw a nice chopper in the window of a motorcycle shop on El Cajon Blvd., in El Cajon.

Finally took a pic of the amusing Santee bike trail "sign" that someone has modified.

Seems to be a lot of people out on the Mission Trails bike path today, mostly walking. Didn't see any snake, bobcats, or deer though.

Lots of people at Lake Murray too. Sun was starting to come out. They've got the end of the road around the lake blocked and have put up an a sign announcing same.

Remember you call click on the image to see a bigger image.

Yesterday I re-positioned the toe straps and now the annoying click whilst pedaling has disappeared. I guess the metal buckles on the straps were clicking on the pedals.
